Druha Trava Tour 2008
Posted by: Bea on Friday, March 21, 2008 - 12:19 PM
U.S. Tours Druha Trava's 2008 tour will begin Labor Day weekend in Minnesota and continue the next weekend in British Columbia after going through the northern states. They will then head down through the Rockies visiting Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona. Then out west again to California and back to Texas before participating in IBMA's World of Bluegrass and Fan Fest (International Bluegrass Music Association) in Nashville September 29-October 5. During Fan Fest they are scheduled to appear on the Roots & Branches Stage and will also be participating in some workshops. They will also appear in the International Suite during the World of Bluegrass Convention and Trade Show. The last week of the tour will be spent in Pennsylvania, Detroit, Chicago, and Iowa. As contracts are received, specifics will be posted to the schedule page.

Due to the weakness of the US dollar in comparison to the Czech crown, this may be the last big tour the band undertakes, so be sure to see them this year! Any future tours will probably not encompass such a large area of the country, unless the US dollar strengthens and it becomes worth their time and expense to again come over here for an extended period.

On another note, the band is looking forward to having US banjoist and 2007 IBMA banjo player of the year, Tony Trischka, in the Czech Republic to tour with them as a guest this coming May. If you head to Czech Republic, be sure to check their Czech schedule at: www.druhatrava.cz so you can enjoy this rare opportunity!

Dylankovy and other recording news
Posted by: Bea on Friday, March 21, 2008 - 11:45 AM
Recordings Druha Trava has a new album out in Czech Republic called "Dylankovy" and fans are loving it! It contains Bob Dylan's songs translated into Czech by Robert Krestan and has a number of guest artists performing with the band. At this point it is not available in the US, but if some arrive, the news will be posted on this website. The band will be bringing some along when they come for their tour so you can purchase it then.

The band also plans to record a new all English album to bring along this fall, so you can look forward to that as well! At present there are at least 2-3 copies available of a number of albums. The discography page will be updated with that information soon, but in the meantime this is what is available: Good Morning Friend, Dueling Fingers, AfterParty, Emily Dickinson, Czechmate, Piece of Cake, New Freedom Bell, Postcard (Pohlednice), Joy of the Sorrowful, and Starodavny Svet.

To order your CD or CDs, send an email to: bea@druhatrava.com and tell her which of the CDs available you would like. She will reply and tell you how much you will need to write your check for and where to send it.

Tour 2007 is underway/Santa Fe concert date change
Posted by: Bea on Monday, August 20, 2007 - 02:16 PM
U.S. Tours Druha Trava began their tour this year at the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Festival. They were received with great success (reflected in their CD sales)!

There are yet a couple of shows to be confirmed in the schedule at the end of their tour in Nebraska and Iowa, but all is looking good. If you don't get to see and hear the band perform in person, so are unable to purchase CDs directly from them, there will be a few CDs available from this website after their US tour is completed. This will include some of the harder to get CDs released only in the Czech Republic.

If you are in the New Mexico area, be aware that the Druha Travas concert at Santa Fe Brewing Company, which was scheduled on a Monday, has been changed to the day before and will now be Sunday, September 16th at 6:30PM. They will be doing the concert with Michael Hearne and he will probably open alone as they will have a long drive from Texas to get there, but they will be there!

If there are any other changes to their tour schedule, they will be announced in this news section of the website, as well as changed on the schedule page. Be sure to click on "schedule" to the left to view all remaining concerts!
